Hydroponics or Aquaponics?
Some people get hydroponics and aquaponics confused with each other, because they both begin with water words. Actually, aquaponics is a spin-off of hydroponics and aquaculture.
Hydroponics is the process of growing plants in nutrient rich water without soil.
Aquaculture is the process of the cultivation of aquatic animals such as fish, shellfish, and seaweed. Aquaponics is a combination of these two.
Aquaponics is the cultivation of fish (the aquaculture portion),
and plants (the hydroponics portion together)
In the same environment.
This system is environmentally friendly.
